Creating an intimate living room
Designing this living room for my client and her young family is on my list of ‘favorite projects so far’. She is a dream to work with and collaborating on this living room was just so fun. The room was already bright and sun light filled, but needed comfortable furniture, ambient light, and functional pieces. The client wanted a space for her family to play board games, listen to records, and take the occasional nap.

Before
Adding layers of texture with the curated furnishings gives this room that warm, minimal I love so much. Each piece was thoughtfully selected for form and function. The clean lined leather sofa sits in juxtaposition to a custom Cisco sofa upholstered in a Schumacher wool fabric. The greige colored wool exudes warmth! We added swivel chairs in a boucle fabric, because every kid loves a swivel chair! The hardworking coffee table is a custom designed piece that was made locally of ebonized ash.

The space is anchored by a patterned rug, giving that muted color I love in a room. The rattan lighting was brought into the space for reading and tasks. A white oak sideboard and bench line the perimeter of the room for function and we added curated art pieces that spoke to my client’s interests. I’ve had the opportunity to hang out in this finished room and it's a total vibe.
